About this session
Globally, there is a broad push to address shipping emissions, with LNG, methanol, ammonia and biofuels all in contention as the fuel of choice. Regional rules in Europe are already imposing emissions costs on ships trading there, while a global framework remains under negotiation. Shipowners want confidence in fuel availability across their routes, while suppliers and port operators want visible demand. Green shipping corridors offer one route through this, linking ports, suppliers, cargo owners and operators along specific trade lanes. Viable delivery models, safety standards and long-term offtake all have to be established. The discussion will focus on fuel pathway choices, infrastructure and delivery models, the role of green corridors, and who absorbs the cost of cleaner fuel.
