Green Hydrogen: Making it Bankable, from Startup to Scale

About this session
The majority of global hydrogen production is still not low-emissions, and most countries are on track to miss meeting the 2030 targets they have announced. The IEA estimates that 22 Mt of announced capacity will not be operational by 2030 unless investment decisions are taken by early 2027. Announcements have never been the constraint. Offtake at a price that covers production cost has. Large projects need demand certainty, lower costs and infrastructure that does not yet exist. Startups face a different constraint: long development cycles and capital-intensive hardware that must be funded years before revenue. Both ends of the ecosystem have to become investable, and the capital that serves one rarely serves the other. The discussion will focus on how innovation finance and project finance connect so that hydrogen can scale.
